After working so much for my customers in the last years, I felt the need to do some creative work for myself. I also wanted to draw by hand again, not always using the computer.
The scenes I've illustrated are all in the near neighbourhood of my Berlin based bureau, I see them almost every day and they inspire me.
I took photos, printed them out and drew them by hand. Then I scanned the pictures and colorized them in Photoshop. I used stone textures that I had shot myself and added shadows with these "point-patterns". I guess it's quite obvious that one of my inspirations comes from the graphic style of the old Hergé Tintin Comics.
